Apple’s Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning Software team is looking to develop Metal, an API for GPU programming that allows efficient use of the GPU and minimizes CPU overhead, specifically for the Metal Developer Tools team to create specialized tools for Metal that perform functions spanning from CPU and GPU runtime analysis to Debugging and Profiling.

Requirements

  • Experience developing developer tools, especially for performance analysis or profiling
  • A technical understanding of the graphics pipelines of modern GPUs
  • Knowledge of GPU APIs such as Metal, Direct3D, Vulkan, or OpenGL
  • Excellent iOS or macOS development experience with Objective-C or Swift
  • Excellent programming skills and knowledge of C/C++
  • Strong software design, problem-solving, and debugging skills

Responsibilities

  • designing and implementing the front-end UI, data visualization, and data processing components of our GPU performance analysis tools
  • writing highly efficient code to process large amounts of profiling data
  • creating intuitive visualizations and user workflows, translating complex performance metrics into clear, actionable insights for developers
  • building on a strong foundation of operating system fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
  • working closely and collaboratively with partners across software teams to fully realize the capabilities of Apple's best-in-class GPUs from a tools perspective

  • Technical BS/MS degree / Equivalent Experience
  • Passion for building intuitive user interfaces and data visualizations
