ERCOT is looking for engineers to ensure the continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid by providing engineering analysis and technical support.
Requirements
- Experience with any of the following: JavaScript, Vue.js, Angular, Python, C-Sharp, Single Page Apps, PL/SQL, SQL, VBA or other scripting languages
- Experience with mapping software like ArcGIS or Mapbox
- Experience with development as well as gathering business requirements
- Experience with front, middle and back-end development
- Level 2 Engineer: Requires minimum 1 year job related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
- Level 3 Engineer: Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
- PE Professional Engineer (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provides engineering analysis and technical support to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols and Market Guides.
- Provides electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system.
- Implements appropriate system modeling, develops tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, performs system studies, analyzes simulated or actual operating results, develops solutions to current or future system issues, and appropriately reports findings and recommendations.
- Develops and prototypes tools to assist control room Operators, Outage Coordinators, Operations and Planning Engineers in the analysis and visualization of data needed to maintain the reliability of the Grid
- May serve as the subject matter expert for system performance standards and contribute to the development strategy for the tools and applications needed by ERCOT Operations and Planning
- Interacts with Project Teams to implement new tools and system changes in production environments
- Development of operational awareness and analytical tools used by System Operators in control room.
Other
- Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
- Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time
- Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
