Oracle is looking to solve the problem of designing and supporting power solutions for their server architectures

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the basic functionality of switchmode power supplies and rack-level Battery Backup systems
  • Experience with I2C/PMBUS communication bus and both Analog and Digital PWM control architectures
  • Proficiency in using common lab equipment for power electronics testing, including bench power supplies, current probes, AC sources, oscilloscopes, and high-voltage probes.
  • Working knowledge of C++ and Python
  • Familiarity with industry standards for safety and worldwide compliance
  • A basic knowledge of network communication is beneficial
  • Experience with power electronic engineering

Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Work as part of a small team to design and develop new power products, ensuring they meet system requirements and specifications.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Bring up and test hardware prototypes, developing and implementing comprehensive test plans to validate functionality.
  • Characterization & Debugging: Conduct hands-on testing and characterization of power hardware in the lab. Lead the debugging and resolution of complex hardware problems related to power.
  • Validation: Validate the interaction and compatibility of power products (PSUs, BBUs, converters, PDUs) with Oracle server architectures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal firmware and software teams to implement system-level diagnostics and with internal system teams to ensure power requirements are met.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and PSU development companies to ensure power components meet technical and regulatory specifications.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and guiding their professional development.

Other

  • Education: BSEE with at least 10 years of power electronic engineering experience, or MSEE with at least 7 years of experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
