VIAVI is looking for a Hardware/Electrical/Optical Engineering Intern to support their Essential Field Instruments (EFI) team. The intern will assist in providing electrical/optical measurements on test instruments, working with analog circuits, and supporting RF instruments. The role also involves supporting hardware/software development projects, including PCB design and test, software coding, and documentation, as well as investigating customer issues and participating in product design reviews.
Requirements
- Experience with lab equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
- Basic knowledge of PC hardware
- Preferably with basic programming skills
Responsibilities
- Performing system-level testing of products
- Writing hardware documentation
- Working with circuit designers to debug board level issues
- Developing test plans and scripts
- Troubleshooting complex issues in lab environment
- Assisting engineers in evaluating new technologies
- Providing them electrical/optical measurements on newly released test instruments, and legacy instruments requiring work with analog circuits used in conjunction with optical measurements, and also RF instrument support.
Other
- Student must be pursuing a BS degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering or related field
- Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
