The bank needs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), onboarding, and ongoing monitoring, while also leading the Financial Investigations Unit's (FIU) end-to-end investigative processes to safeguard the institution from financial crime risk.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in AML, KYC, or financial investigations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of BSA/AML regulations, customer due diligence requirements, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale operational teams and complex investigations.
  • Experience interacting with law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
  • CAMS or similar AML certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads all teams at the bank that are responsible for the execution and oversight of KYC operations, including onboarding, CDD, EDD, and periodic reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements related to customer identification and risk assessment.
  • Oversee onsite customer visits and enhanced due diligence reviews for high-risk clients.
  • Drive continuous improvement in KYC processes, systems, and team performance.
  • Direct the FIU’s operations, including Level 1 alert reviews, case investigations, SAR drafting and filing, and subpoena processing.
  • Maintain high standards of investigative quality, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of suspicious activity via SAR filings in accordance with FinCEN and other regulatory requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Finance, Business, or related field preferred or relevant experience required
  • Ideally experience leading 300+ size teams of multiple scale and complexity.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.

  • Ensure that all team activities align with regulatory expectations and internal risk tolerance.
