The future of robotics is bottlenecked by the availability of high-quality, high-fidelity training data, and Labelbox is building an advanced robotics lab and software stack to generate pristine, structured data for the world's leading robotics companies.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in the robotics domain, including sensor modalities (LiDAR, stereo cameras, IMUs), data formats, and robotics software stacks (e.g., ROS).
- Proven track record of scaling complex, capital-intensive, 24/7 operations that involve a tight coupling of hardware, software, and human processes.
- Experience with machine learning data lifecycle, including annotation, data quality, and model evaluation.
- Direct experience building or managing data collection/generation systems for machine learning.
- Familiarity with the machine learning data lifecycle, including annotation, data quality, and model evaluation.
- Experience in a specific robotics vertical such as autonomous vehicles, logistics automation, or manufacturing.
- BS or MS in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Responsibilities
- Strategic & Operational Leadership: Own the end-to-end vision and strategy for the Robotics lab.
- Build a World-Class Data Factory: Architect, implement, and scale a robust 24/7 operational framework for data generation.
- Customer Obsession & Partnership: Serve as the primary technical and operational partner for our strategic robotics customers.
- Technical Vision & Roadmap: Drive the technical roadmap across both hardware (robotics hardware, sensors, compute infrastructure) and software (data acquisition pipelines, processing workflows, quality control tools).
- Scale from 1 to N: You will be responsible for scaling every aspect of the program, from physical facility expansion and hardware procurement to software automation and global workforce planning.
- Develop rigorous processes, KPIs, monitoring, and automation to ensure unparalleled uptime, efficiency, and data integrity.
- Partner with our core engineering teams to integrate this capability seamlessly into the Labelbox platform.
Other
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience in a technical field, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing engineering, product, or operational teams.
- Exceptional customer-facing skills with experience acting as a trusted technical advisor to external partners and executive stakeholders.
- A 'first principles' thinker who is equally comfortable debugging a hardware issue on the floor, writing a strategic 3-year plan, or presenting to our executive team.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model with 2 days per week in office, combining collaboration and flexibility.
- BS or MS in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
