NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Health Informatics Application Engineer to support a federal agency’s health data systems, focusing on enhancing interoperability through application development, clinical terminology management, and modernization of biomedical data tools.
Requirements
- Experience with UMLS, RxNorm, MeSH, and biomedical application development.
- Proficiency in Java/J2EE, SQL/PL-SQL, JavaScript, Spring, and related technologies.
- Strong background in database design, ETL processes, and cloud migration strategies (e.g., AWS).
- Familiarity with Agile development, API integration, and web accessibility standards (Section 508).
- Knowledge of clinical terminology management and value sets.
- Understanding of FAIR data principles and their application in health informatics.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and DevOps integration.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain systems like VSAC, UMLS, RxNorm, MeSH, and the CDE Portal.
- Manage clinical terminologies and value sets, including support for CMS updates and intensional value sets using RxNorm and LOINC.
- Streamline ETL processes and implement incremental updates to reduce downtime.
- Lead enhancements to user interfaces and develop tools for browsing biomedical terminologies.
- Standardize and optimize APIs to improve interoperability across NIH systems.
- Modernize legacy applications (e.g., MEDIT, GCMS) for cloud readiness and DevOps integration.
- Provide technical support aligned with FAIR data principles, including documentation and customer assistance.
