PCL is looking for a Health, Safety, and Environment Intern to contribute to their team by gathering and distributing safety-related information, monitoring compliance, and ensuring adherence to safety standards on construction sites.
Requirements
- Knowledge of applicable OH&S, environmental legislation and HSE processes.
- A strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
- Ability to learn construction processes and terminology.
Responsibilities
- Gathers/reviews/distributes safety-related statistical information.
- Monitors site-specific programs/requirements/compliance.
- Recognizes and follows PCL and local legislative requirements.
- Anticipates questions based on experience, knowledge, and understanding of client needs.
- Conceptually visualizes a completed project or project component (e.g., generator installation process).
- Recognizes behaviors, conditions, and activities that can adversely affect health.
- Interprets simple work sequences.
Other
- Working toward Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related area of study.
- A desire to pursue a career as a HSE professional.
- 18 years of age or older and possesses a valid Driver's License.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis and climb ladders and stairs.
- Must be able to work around and near heavy equipment, cranes, and other construction equipment.
- Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a background check, a physical, and a substance abuse test each conducted by a third party.
