This involves managing and mentoring software engineers, planning and executing projects, gathering business requirements, and ensuring operational excellence for key services like listing ingestion, search, and APIs.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in project management and/or business analysis within technology environments.
- Strong understanding of operational processes, Agile methodologies, and SDLC.
- Experience with API design, microservices architecture, and large-scale data ingestion.
- Familiarity with observability tools, incident management, and operational dashboards.
- Ability to balance technical depth with strategic thinking.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor software engineers focused on backend services, APIs, and operational tooling for Homes.com marketplace.
- Plan, prioritize, and execute software projects using Agile methodologies; manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
- Gather and analyze requirements from Product and Operations teams; translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable tasks.
- Drive initiatives to improve uptime, scalability, and incident response for listing ingestion, search services, and customer-facing APIs.
- Work closely with Product, Data Operations, and Infrastructure teams to align engineering priorities with marketplace growth goals.
- Ensure adherence to privacy, security, and regulatory standards across all marketplace services.

- Manager of Software Engineering with strong operational expertise and experience in process improvement and ideally Business Analysis/Project Management.
- This position is located in Arlington, VA and will have a 4-day onsite schedule Monday-Thursday, with Fridays work from home.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Background in operations or process optimization within a technology environment
- Certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or CBAP are a plus.
