Peraton is seeking an Image Scientist to support product evaluations, algorithm quality studies, new product initializations, and develop image quality equations for imaging systems, including panchromatic, RADAR, LIDAR, OPIR, hyperspectral, and multispectral systems on space or airborne platforms.

Requirements

  • Working understanding and practical application of modeling components of the image path
  • Familiarity with current GEOINT systems, products, and development
  • Experience with electrical-optical, RADAR, LIDAR, hyperspectral, and/or multispectral imaging platforms
  • Image processing and digital signal processing experience
  • Image chain analysis, including atmospheric modeling, signal quality and noise, optics, detector calibration, and image processing of pixel data
  • Applied knowledge of sensor imaging systems, products, and exploitation processes
  • Understanding of data processing and statistics

Responsibilities

  • Support product evaluations, algorithm quality studies, new product initializations
  • Develop image quality equations to quantify the expected quality of an imaging system
  • Model components of the image path, including sensor, detector, atmospheric, and material properties
  • Work with imaging systems, including panchromatic, RADAR, LIDAR, OPIR, hyperspectral, and multispectral systems on space or airborne platforms
  • Develop test and verification methodologies for GEOINT systems, products, and development
  • Exploit software packages for imaging systems
  • Complete tasks prioritized by government customers

Other

  • Must have a minimum of a Top Secret clearance and willing to upgrade clearance to TS/SCI and sit for and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment
  • Bachelor or advanced degree in Image Science, Optics, Engineering, or Applied Physics
  • Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with emphasis on briefing to obtain decisions and solve technical issues and test plans/reports writing
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic work environment
