The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is looking for an Institutional Data Analyst to provide comprehensive institutional data to support decision-making, policy-making, strategic planning, and assessment by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data from the university's administrative databases.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries.
- Demonstrated experience with programming languages (e.g., SAS, Python, or R).
- Experience using MS Office suite and Windows operating systems.
- Experience querying student data from the University of Illinois data warehouse.
- Experience querying employee data from the University of Illinois data warehouse.
- Experience with SSIS.
- Experience with Visual Studio IDE.
Responsibilities
- Gather information from university departments and extract data from DMI sources and other university administrative databases to create reports for responding to data requests.
- Use appropriate applications and data to assist administrators, faculty, and staff in obtaining timely, accurate, and relevant information.
- Assist in the interpretation of data and trends, summarization of results, and preparation of reports.
- Assist users in the appropriate and secure use of data provided and/or maintained by DMI.
- Verify data accuracy; initiate and resolve data quality issues; apply and ensure proper data access rules.
- Working as part of a team with other DMI staff, design and build new interfaces and systems to meet changing information needs.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation on projects, processes, and reports.
Other
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
- College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
