Develop a custom device for measuring flexural creep in plastic strips by integrating a transducer, circuit board, and data logger to capture and analyze material deformation over time.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of electronic components and circuit design.
- Familiarity with sensors, transducers, and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to read schematics and use electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) is a plus.
- Basic programming skills (Python, C/C++) for data logging and automation.
- CAD or 3D modeling experience for fixture design is beneficial but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and calibrate displacement transducers for flexural creep measurement.
- Design and test basic electronic circuits for signal conditioning and data acquisition.
- Interface sensors with microcontrollers or data loggers to record position data.
- Assist in developing fixtures and mechanical setups for creep testing.
- Document procedures, test results, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine device performance.
Other
- Current enrollment in or completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science & engineering, mechatronics or robotics engineering, applied physics or engineering physics, or similar field
- Coursework or project experience in instrumentation, electronics, or materials testing is preferred.
