Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience performing data management and analysis with large health care data sets in SAS, Epi Info, SQL, Python, or R
  • Experience working with health data standards such as HL7, X12, FHIR, or CDA, or epidemiological analytics
  • Ability to apply statistical and mathematical principles in a public health context, including developing predictive data models, regression analysis, and creating data visualizations on real-world data
  • Experience with Veterans Health Administration health record data
  • Knowledge of major Electronic Health Record solutions
  • Ability to apply project management tools and techniques, as well as change management theory and applications
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL

Responsibilities

  • Create real-world impact by using leadership skills and data science expertise
  • Work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle
  • Guide teammates and lead the development of algorithms and systems
  • Use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to advise clients as they make informed decisions
  • Provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used
  • Perform data management tasks on very large datasets, including complex joins, and automation techniques to execute repetitive tasks
  • Apply statistical and mathematical principles in a public health context, including developing predictive data models, regression analysis, and creating data visualizations on real-world data

  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Epidemiology, or Computer Science
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or Computer Science
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues
