The Intelligence Analyst position provides intelligence analyst support services to a centralized analytics operation focusing on crimes involving the US Mail. The analyst uses knowledge of Inspection Service internal applications and workflows to streamline operational efficiencies; and uses statistical analysis and structured database queries to automate and increase operational efficiency based on identified business patterns.
Requirements
- Advanced in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create and execute macros, create and modify pivot tables, utilize VLOOKUP, if/then formulas, conditional formatting, and more.
- Experience in examining large data sets and identifying trends in the data.
- Ability to assess data and attribute risk values.
- Understanding of statistics.
- Ability to design, code, test and document customized reports using SQL against USPS Oracle and Teradata databases for the detection of specific patterns or business patterns or anomalies.
- Visualization skills in MicroStrategy, Qlik, ArcGIS or similar applications.
- Advanced Oracle/Teradata SQL skills. Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C and Java is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Data collection and aggregation - Extract data from Teradata and Oracle environments, and legacy systems to satisfy requests for information from field users and management.
- Review and analyze data to identify patterns and trends to support investigations.
- Responsible for documenting and reporting analytical results, creating graphic displays and reports that present clear and concise representations of the information analyzed; and disseminating data as required by the assigned task(s).

Other
- Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university AND a minimum of five years of related experience.
- Ability to evaluate information and make decisions/recommendations based on findings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with proven ability to influence across functions and disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with competing priorities and meet deliverables.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in facilitating training, participating in meetings or presentations, and producing analytical reports.
- Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
