David Zwirner seeks an Interim Researcher to assist the Research & Exhibitions team with the preparation of provenance documents, written fact sheets on artworks, exhibition press releases, and other research and documentation for the gallery’s global exhibition program and sales activities.
Requirements
- This qualified researcher will have a background in art history and will be a strong writer.
- The role requires strong editorial skills to help maintain the “voice,” consistency, accuracy, and clarity of the writing and research produced by the department and to support the team as needed.
- The role also demands flexibility, effective communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative working style, and an ability to multitask and work efficiently.
- Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 2+ years working with a gallery, museum, auction house, academic or publishing field.
- Gallery and auction house experience preferred.
- A graduate degree in art history, curatorial studies, or related is preferred but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- prepare fact sheets/presentations on selected works being offered for sale by the gallery for use by Sales team: research and prepare texts; provenance; exhibition histories; literature references, on works/artists.
- Actively participate in the team’s review and editorial feedback process, reviewing colleague’s research documents and text and implementing the team’s feedback and edits on their own documents.
- Act as a liaison with the gallery’s online content/marketing teams on selected projects; provide research content for these pages and ensure accuracy and alignment of information and language.
- assist with drafting and preparing selected exhibition press releases, working closely with the team and with the communications department.
- provide research and curatorial support for selected exhibition projects.

- Previous experience and a background within the commercial art world is not required.
