The U.S. Center for SafeSport is seeking to prevent and respond to sexual abuse in sport by utilizing data to drive policy improvements and education strategies. The intern will help clean, analyze, and visualize data related to abuse reporting, training outcomes, and organizational compliance to inform policy and abuse prevention/response in sport.
Requirements
- Familiarity with data tools such as Excel, Python, R, or SQL
- Experience or coursework in data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib/seaborn)
Responsibilities
- Assist in entering, cleaning, organizing, validating and maintaining sensitive datasets related to sexual abuse reporting and prevention
- Conduct analyses to identify trends, risk factors, or gaps in reporting, training, or policy compliance
- Build clear and effective data visualizations to communicate findings to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support the development of dashboards or regular reports for leadership and partner organizations
- Help evaluate the impact of prevention programs and initiatives through data-driven methods
- Learn how to utilize BI tooling (looker or tableau) to better present data to stakeholders
Other
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Data Science, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, especially in translating data into accessible insights
- Passion for athlete safety, social impact, and ethical data use
- Experience or interest in topics such as safeguarding, abuse prevention, or child protection is a plus
