NISC is looking for a Data Engineer Intern to assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, contributing to data architecture using AWS and Databricks, and gathering, cleaning, and transforming data to support enterprise software and data strategy.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala)
  • Interest in cloud platforms (especially AWS) and big data tools like Spark or Databricks
  • Exposure to data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow, Hevo Data), preferred
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS S3, Lambda, or EC2, preferred
  • Understanding of data warehousing or lakehouse concepts, preferred
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines that support analytics and application development
  • Learn about and contribute to data architecture using AWS and Databricks
  • Help gather, clean, and transform data from various sources into usable formats
  • Collaborate with software developers, data analysts, and product teams to understand data needs
  • Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and brainstorming sessions
  • Explore opportunities to automate manual processes and improve data workflows
  • Contribute to documentation and internal knowledge sharing

  • Hybrid from one of our office locations: Cedar Rapids, IA, Lake Saint Louis, MO, Mandan, ND
  • Requirement: Minimum of working 3 days per week out of an office location and ability to work up to all 5 days a week from an office location.
