General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support projects that enable customers to successfully execute missions across all domains of operation, specifically focusing on the Nuclear Monitoring Programs and the operation and maintenance of remote monitoring stations.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical and electrical engineering experience to understand equipment drawings, schematics, and general safety
  • Familiarity with LabView or ability to learn data acquisition software and hardware tools
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence is a plus
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks PDM) and 3D printing (Selective Laser Sintering) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • assist engineers in the build, test, and evaluation of equipment
  • investigation of operational improvements to team processes
  • development and integration of equipment for use in expanding the team’s hardware testbed capabilities
  • understand equipment drawings, schematics, and general safety
  • Familiarity with LabView or ability to learn data acquisition software and hardware tools
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks PDM) and 3D printing (Selective Laser Sintering) is a plus

Other

  • Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.
  • Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using hand tools is desired
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
