STP's Electrical Maintenance Internship Program is designed for students who want to gain practical experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems within a nuclear power plant. The program offers exposure to electrical maintenance tasks, equipment calibration, and system optimization, providing students with the hands-on experience required to maintain plant electrical systems and enhance plant reliability.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year institution and pursuing a degree in Electrical Maintenance or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Basic understanding of electrical maintenance practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, and power distribution equipment.
- Supporting troubleshooting efforts and the repair of electrical components to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
- Assisting with preventive maintenance tasks and the development of maintenance schedules.
- Supporting the calibration and testing of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Reviewing electrical schematics and technical documentation to aid in troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Documenting maintenance activities and supporting the maintenance management system.
Other
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety in all tasks.
- Must be in good academic standing with your school.
