The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is looking to solve the problem of providing event planning and execution support, as well as staffing assistance, for various events and meetings, while also providing a nurturing place for interns to grow their careers.
Requirements
- Utilizes standard office software (i.e., spreadsheet, word-processing, database) and SAP
- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen
- Ability to operate field instruments/equipment
- Ability to recognize small numbers, letters, symbols, color on prints
Responsibilities
- Utilizes standard office software (i.e., spreadsheet, word-processing, database) and SAP
- Assist with designing event plans and task lists for BWL's three major summer events
- Support event logistics, vendor coordination, and internal planning tasks
- Provide on-site staffing support at each of these events, including set-up, check-in, and distribution of employee gifts or tickets
- Assist with government bill analysis, community engagement, volunteer initiatives, and other day-to-day departmental projects
- Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System
- Operate a computer and other office equipment
Other
- Currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution in Community Relations, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science or related field with junior or senior status during the summer of 2026
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Predictable and reliable attendance
- Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the working day
