Delta Air Lines' IT Software Engineering team is responsible for the technology supporting various business units. The IT Summer Intern role aims to accelerate Delta's IT transformation by leveraging new technology and ideas to create innovative solutions that help Delta better connect the world.

Requirements

  • Possess an awareness of cloud technology, Software Dev Lifecycles, and/or PC hardware components and/or maintenance
  • Ability to digest large amounts of data and information and succinctly explain what can be learned from the data and how it can support decision making
  • Have a passion for working on technologies such as Mobile apps, Enterprise Web apps, APIs, Messaging, Databases, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence

Responsibilities

  • assist in providing computer software development, business analysis, data analytics and/or technical support for IT operations
  • support a variety of IT projects in a Business Analyst, Developer, Systems Engineer, or Data Analytic/BI type role
  • gathering requirements for development, design and testing of decision support systems
  • participation in the development, maintenance, enhancement and support of our software applications or infrastructure environments
  • Data analytics is used to create performance dashboards and service level agreements with various products
  • utilize various methods and technologies (i.e. AWS cloud technology, Java/JEE, JSON, Spring, Angular, Agile/DevOps delivery, API, JavaScript, C++ on Linux, Python, REST, XML, web services, HTML, Oracle and expanding mobile technologies)

  • Be able to commit to working the entire summer internship program, May 11 – August 7, 2026 (13 weeks)
  • Be willing to work from the Atlanta office. Most teams work apartially onsite / partially remote (hybrid) work schedule with management approval.
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or higher and have completed at least 2 years in a college program.
  • Ideal candidates have strong analytical, leadership, written and verbal communication skills and a good work ethic
  • Be able to accept diverse people, thinking and consistently make safety and security, of self and others, a priority
  • Have an interest in solving complex problems and be willing to invest time and energy to overcome roadblocks
  • Be able to conduct yourself in a mature manner and be comfortable working in a business casual work attire environment
  • Have an interest in working as a full time employee after graduation if an offer is extended
  • Desire to learn leadership techniques and best practices in problem solving and conflict resolution to enable innovation and progress on difficult to solve challenges of our customers
