Lumen is looking to solve network capacity challenges, including maintaining and augmenting over 78,000 miles of long-haul and metro fiber routes, dealing with issues such as rapid capacity consumption by large customers, aging infrastructure, and the integration of multiple legacy inventory systems.
Requirements
- Proficiency and understanding of GIS tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Preferably with an engineering or computer science background
- Experience with spatial analysis and automation of capacity constraint analysis
- Familiarity with Esri ArcPro/ArcMap
- Ability to approach problems creatively and provide fresh perspectives on data analysis and network optimization
Responsibilities
- Contribute to real-world network capacity challenges
- Focus on spatial analysis, GIS platforms (such as Esri ArcPro/ArcMap), and automation of capacity constraint analysis
- Gain exposure to both the technical and strategic aspects of network planning, including migration efforts and data manipulation
- Work closely with the team to address current migration and capacity planning projects

- Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship

- Available to work full time (40 hours/week) during the 10-week program
