TCI LLC is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to assist in preparing detailed technical designs for their AC and DC drive products, based on engineering data, standard references, and customer specifications.
Requirements
- Strong skills in electrical circuits, magnetics, power conversion, and power systems.
- Exposure to three phase power systems, power magnetics, motors, or power electronics.
- Knowledge of magnetic design principles including calculation of inductance, flux density, losses, material properties, lamination thickness, thermal losses, and characterization of magnetic saturation.
- Working knowledge of power quality standards and power quality measurement techniques.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as PSIM, MATLAB, MathCAD, and FEA.
- Ability to operate lab diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi meters, spectrum analyzers, LCR meters, and bench power supplies.
- Knowledge of three-phase power passive filter circuits (passive harmonic filters and low-pass filters.)
Responsibilities
- Preparing technical designs for standard, configured and custom designed products.
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering and design tasks.
- Work with mechanical designers to research and select components based off ratings, components, and agency requirements.
- Selects raw materials and components; develops specifications for selected.
Other
- This position requires in person on site part time work during the school semester and offers full time over winter break and in the summer.
- We expect around 15 hours per week during the school year.
- Hours are flexible to allow you to prioritize your classes and schoolwork.
- The ability and willingness to take independent action and complete job tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
