The NVH team at Tesla is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to develop and implement audio algorithms for advanced diagnostics in Tesla products, and to integrate these algorithms into production processes.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Python, C++, and software engineering best practices
- An “under the hood” knowledge of deep learning: layer details, loss functions, optimization, etc.
- Experience in sound event detection and sound event classification
- Fluency with common neural network architectures for audio event detection and classification
- Experience with PyTorch, or another major deep learning framework such as TensorFlow
- Experience with data manipulation tools including jupyter notebooks, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, scikit-learn, Python & Bash scripting, Linux environment
- Record of driving research projects from start to end, including conception, experimentation, iteration, and integration into a working product
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement audio algorithms that will enable advanced diagnostics for Tesla products
- Design and develop automated data generation pipelines that create various high quality ground truth data for real-world perception problems
- Deploy and scale your work across millions of Tesla vehicles worldwide
- Collaborate with our manufacturing and audit teams to seamlessly integrate your algorithms into our production processes

- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree
- This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available).
- We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.
