The State of Utah's Customer Experience (CX) program is transforming how government serves its residents by building a robust data infrastructure to scale insights derived from customer feedback and web analytics, and a Data Engineer is needed to architect and build it.
Requirements
- Proficiency in deploying server-side data resources in GCP.
- Medium-strong experience with BigQuery, including data import, transform, export, and visualization.
- Strong experience with HTTP/API orchestration, including bringing in disparate data from various sources and creating configurable templates for customizing data handling.
- Expert proficiency in SQL is essential.
- Strong proficiency in a scripting language for data manipulation, such as Python or R.
- Google Cloud experience
- Any Google Cloud certifications including Associate Cloud Engineer, Data Engineer, or others
Responsibilities
- Deploy and Manage Server-Side Data Resources in GCP
- Design, build, and maintain our scalable CX data lakehouse in Google BigQuery.
- Develop, deploy, and monitor robust ETL/ELT data pipelines to ingest feedback from various sources.
- Implement data quality frameworks and transformation processes.
- Design and implement robust integrations between platforms like Qualtrics and other state systems (e.g., CRMs, help desk software, operational databases) using APIs.
- Evaluate and utilize integration platforms or custom scripts to automate data flow and create configurable templates for customizing data handling.
- Partner with Data Analysts to structure data models for efficient querying, dashboards, and reports.

- This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and telework days (two days a week, in office required at the Taylorsville State Office Building 4315 S 2700 West, Taylorsville, Utah).
