The Department of Health and Human Services needs to enhance and support the N-FOCUS application, a vital state system, by designing, developing, and deploying scalable, cloud-ready solutions and transforming business needs into innovative, high-performing applications.

Requirements

  • Experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue with the ability to perform development and enhancements for a large complex computer system.
  • String understanding of cloud-native and serverless application models.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Java development, Expertise in HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing micro-services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
  • At least 3 years of experience in REST API development using Open API (Swagger) specifications.
  • At least 5 years of experience building front-end applications with modern SPA frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • At least 3 years working with relational databases. Ability to write SQL queries and debug database related issues in Java applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy solutions to support DHHS N-FOCUS applications.
  • Maintain the performance, scalability, and security of all DHHS applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues under tight timeframes, occasionally support after-hours production incidents.
  • Conduct testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Document technical solutions, application architecture, and development processes.
  • Lead small-to-medium projects or components of larger projects, providing clear project plans, timelines, and status reports.

  • This is listed statewide, as we may consider placement in other DHHS office locations across Nebraska for the right candidate; however, the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln is highly preferred.
  • The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services does not sponsor or transfer non-immigrant work visas for these positions.
  • Must have strong technical, organization and planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively across multiple platforms and handle issues in a professional manner.
  • Preferred to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle and workflow.
