Sonepar Management Group (SMG) needs to support its US brands through a shared services model, requiring a Junior Data Engineer to manage and improve their data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, accessibility, and efficient processing for analysis and reporting.
Requirements
- Familiarity with SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Proficiency in one or more programming language(s): Python, Java, C, etc
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Understanding of cloud data platforms (e.g.,Snowflake, Azure).
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and processes (e.g., FiveTran, Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, PySpark).
- Understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- 0-4 years of experience in data engineering or a related field(internships or academic projects are acceptable)
Responsibilities
- Gather, clean, and integrate data from various sources to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Maintain and optimize databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Implement indexing and partitioning strategies to improve database performance.
- Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality.
- Perform basic data analysis and generate reports to support business decision-making.
- Develop and maintain ETL /ELT(Extract, Transform, Load) processes to automate data workflows.
- Monitor ETL/ELT jobs for performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
Other
- Collaborate with data providers to understand data structures and requirements.
- Work closely with senior data engineers and other team members to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Document data processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for all data engineering tasks.
