Peraton is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support the Combat System Simulation Development (CSSD) program, which involves developing real-time, high-fidelity modeling and simulation software systems for the Navy's Combat System development, certification, and training. This includes integration testing in realistic Navy environments and understanding pertinent Navy combat systems.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with C/C++ and/or Java software application development
- Demonstrated experience in developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software that contain logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems
- Demonstrated experience utilizing computer program development and tracking tools
- Demonstrated experience analyzing requirements, designing and developing software solutions, conducting periodic reviews of design and development artifacts, and establishing test methodologies and criteria
- Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and concepts
- Demonstrated ability to learn how an existing system works in order to model, simulate, or stimulate the system through software solutions
- System level knowledge and understanding of Naval Combat Systems such as the Navy Aegis Weapons System
Responsibilities
- Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software
- Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
- Ensures software standards are met
- Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
- Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
Other
- 0 years with a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other applicable engineering discipline or 4 years in lieu of degree
- Demonstrated problem solving skills in a customer focused environment
- Must be local to the King George, VA area as integration testing of solutions is required at the Navy Facility (25% on site hybrid) with 75% remote. Must live within 1.5 hours of work at the Peraton Building and on-site customers at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), in Dahlgren, VA.
