Northrop Grumman is looking for a Kinematics Engineer - Software to support the Threat Modeling Center (TMC) product line of the DE Task Order on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC). This role involves generating kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TMC, which is delivered as part of an Integrated Threat Product (ITP) to Department of Defense customers to drive their simulations.
Requirements
- Experience in modeling and simulation
- Knowledge of missiles and six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) trajectory representation
- Familiarity with missile defense system components and their interoperability
- Understanding of Linux and Windows based platforms with their associated software
- Experience in agile software development methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Knowledge/experience in SQL queries
- Experience with large code base M&S systems using an optimistic and/or conservative discrete event simulation platform
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Uses/updates software to generate the kinematic output data of simulated missile trajectories for the TMC to be delivered as part of an Integrated Threat Product (ITP) to various Department of Defense customers (primarily within the MDA) to drive the threat portion of their simulations.
- Possess a strong understanding of each threat country’s differing capabilities, preferred Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and strategic objectives for any given scenario and be able to apply these capabilities to the specific scenario.
- Review customer scenario requests and provides feedback on potential problems or issues before the production process begins.
- Review final documentation and data to ensure the customer’s objectives were met and the high-resolution data accurately reflects the specifications provided to the Threat Modeling Center.
- Generating kinematic trajectories using the TMC’s Threat Modeling & Simulation Suite (TMSS) and trouble-shooting products and data.
