Sargent & Lundy is looking to solve the problem of ensuring compliance with engineering and operational standards for substation projects, particularly in the areas of commissioning, protection and controls, and high-voltage equipment.
Requirements
- Familiarity with microprocessor protection relays used in electric utility substations. Should have a knowledge of relays from ABB, AREVA, Siemens, SEL, etc.
- Ability to read and understand AC and DC Schematic Diagrams and Wiring Diagrams for electric utility substations.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Experience in commissioning, protection and controls, and high-voltage equipment.
- Knowledge of relays from ABB, AREVA, Siemens, SEL, etc.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams for protection, transformer protection, bus differential protection, breaker failure protection, etc.
- Experience with SCADA and communication systems
Responsibilities
- Oversee commissioning activities for substation projects, ensuring compliance with engineering and operational standards.
- Provide engineering oversight, including reviewing designs, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with teams.
- Manage system testing, verification, and energization to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Work closely with construction, engineering, and operations teams to drive project completion.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, project schedules, and utility standards.
- Oversight of project specific testing activities including assisting with isolation plans and with flagging and barriers
- Challenge and validate design approaches
Other
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 15 or more years of experience in construction & commissioning at high voltage substations

- Candidates must be willing to travel to field assignments.
