Sargent & Lundy is looking for a field assignment based engineer near Fort Worth, TX to oversee commissioning activities for substation projects, ensuring compliance with engineering and operational standards.
Requirements
- Familiarity with microprocessor protection relays used in electric utility substations. Should have a knowledge of relays from ABB, AREVA, Siemens, SEL, etc.
- Ability to read and understand AC and DC Schematic Diagrams and Wiring Diagrams for electric utility substations. This includes schematics and wiring diagrams for protection, transformer protection, bus differential protection, breaker failure protection, etc.
- Experience in commissioning, protection and controls, and high-voltage equipment.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
Responsibilities
- Oversee commissioning activities for substation projects, ensuring compliance with engineering and operational standards.
- Provide engineering oversight, including reviewing designs, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with teams.
- Manage system testing, verification, and energization to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Work closely with construction, engineering, and operations teams to drive project completion.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, project schedules, and utility standards.
- Oversight of project specific testing activities including assisting with isolation plans and with flagging and barriers
- Monitor relay testing and review of relay settings

- This is a field assignment based near Fort Worth, TX. The location of the assignment can vary depending on the job and/or client. Candidates must be willing to travel to field assignments.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 15 or more years of experience in construction & commissioning at high voltage substations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
