BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina needs an expert data analyst to create and analyze reports to support operations, ensuring the accuracy of data used for financial and operational decisions.
Requirements
- Advanced experience using complex mathematical calculations and understand mathematical and statistical concepts.
- Knowledge of relevant computer support systems.
- Proven experience with report writing and technical requirements analysis, data and business process modeling/mapping, and methodology development.
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of the healthcare delivery system.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of programming languages across various software platforms, using DB2, SQL, and/or relational databases.
Responsibilities
- Reviews, extracts and analyzes data to be used in formulation of procedures, processes and other requirements, including data integrity and quality control.
- Provides reports of relevant activity to be used to identify problematic areas and data anomalies, in order to provide basis for modification and/or elimination of operations issues.
- Revises existing reports and develops new reports based on changing methodologies.
- Analyzes reports to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Tracks and verifies all reporting statistics and/or metrics.
- Develops complex analysis and sophisticated data compilation, verification, and interpretations to guide divisional efforts.
- Creates data tools used to identify/modify pertinent data needed to provide supporting documentation for system or operational regulatory reporting.

- Serves in a lead capacity as an expert data analyst and may also lead a team.
- Presents report findings in a concise manner to appropriate management level.
- Communicates with and/or trains employees and managers on the complex database programs used to generate analytical data.
- Documents reporting procedures so other staff can run ad hoc reports independently.
