BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina needs an expert data analyst to create and analyze reports to support operations, ensuring the accuracy of data used for financial and operational decisions.

Requirements

  • Advanced experience using complex mathematical calculations and understand mathematical and statistical concepts.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer support systems.
  • Proven experience with report writing and technical requirements analysis, data and business process modeling/mapping, and methodology development.
  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare delivery system.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of programming languages across various software platforms, using DB2, SQL, and/or relational databases.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, extracts and analyzes data to be used in formulation of procedures, processes and other requirements, including data integrity and quality control.
  • Provides reports of relevant activity to be used to identify problematic areas and data anomalies, in order to provide basis for modification and/or elimination of operations issues.
  • Revises existing reports and develops new reports based on changing methodologies.
  • Analyzes reports to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Tracks and verifies all reporting statistics and/or metrics.
  • Develops complex analysis and sophisticated data compilation, verification, and interpretations to guide divisional efforts.
  • Creates data tools used to identify/modify pertinent data needed to provide supporting documentation for system or operational regulatory reporting.

  • Serves in a lead capacity as an expert data analyst and may also lead a team.
  • Presents report findings in a concise manner to appropriate management level.
  • Communicates with and/or trains employees and managers on the complex database programs used to generate analytical data.
  • Documents reporting procedures so other staff can run ad hoc reports independently.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, communications, and analytical skills.
