Bayer seeks to lead data engineering development efforts across multiple cloud-native platform work streams, including digital product development, data lakes, data warehouses, and automations, with a focus on healthcare-regulated environments. The role aims to design and maintain efficient data pipelines, optimize data models, and ensure data privacy, security, and integrity, driving the performance, scalability, and reliability of data solutions in a cloud environment.
Requirements
- Long-term hands-on experience with major hyperscalers such as Google Cloud Platform (preferred), Amazon Web Services, or Azure;
- Strong expertise in building and managing data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, data modeling, and business intelligence or artificial intelligence solutions on the cloud;
- Experience handling medical images and other medical structured/unstructured data such as HL7, EMR, and multi-omics data;
- In-depth knowledge of architectural patterns, design principles, and best practices;
- Familiarity with visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead data engineering development efforts for cloud-native platform work streams, focusing on healthcare-regulated environments, data governance, and security;
- Design, build, and maintain efficient and reliable data pipelines for large-scale data processing;
- Develop and optimize data models and data flow processes to support analytics and reporting;
- Collaborate with lead architects, data scientists, cross-functional teams, and vendors to implement platforms using industry best practices;
- Ensure data quality, privacy, security, and integrity for structured and unstructured data sources in the cloud;
- Guide and mentor team members and junior engineers on data engineering implementations, API development, and data governance requirements;
- Manage the performance, scalability, optimization, and reliability of data pipelines;
Other
- Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent education;
- Proven extensive experience as a data engineer or in a similar role, working on challenging projects;
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills in both local language and English, with the ability to work collaboratively in an agile team environment;
- Experience in regulated healthcare environments, medical imaging technologies, and data science methodology is an advantage;
