Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to support applications used by its large employee base, external job seekers, and HR professionals. The role will focus on enhancing Human Resources Data, Reporting & Analytics capabilities within the Enterprise Functions Technology group, specifically within the Human Resources Information Technology (HRIT) team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of Microsoft Fabric experience
  • 5+ years of data warehouse / large data store experience
  • 5+ years of data-centric solution design
  • 5+ years of experience with BI tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Experience with AI, preferrable Microsoft Copilot and Github Copilot
  • Experience with metadata and associated tooling, especially Microsoft Purview

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for reporting and analytics solutions in HRIT Data Engineering, including leading our work to implement and adopt Microsoft Fabric - including establish best practices for engineers on the team, leading the Fabric community of practice in HR & HRIT and mentoring other engineers.
  • Collaborate heavily with our business partners in HR Data and Reporting to develop solutions to support business intelligence products, semantic models, ad-hoc analytics and data science initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and run tooling to discover problems in data and applications and report the issues to engineering and product leadership.
  • Review and analyze complex software enhancement initiatives for business, operational or technical improvements that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted data engineering situations requiring understanding of software package options and programming language and compliance requirements that influence and lead Technology to meet deliverables and drive organizational change.
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with internal partners to resolve highly risky data engineering challenges.
