The Home Depot is looking to build the next generation of shopping experience by creating and deploying cutting-edge Generative AI applications and building an AI knowledge foundation. The Lead Data Scientist will drive data science initiatives that deliver significant business value and improved customer experiences, leading the team and leveraging data science as a competitive advantage.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
- Demonstrated expertise utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that help solve business problems
- Hands-on experience with developing and deploying Gen AI applications, including building and optimizing large and small language models.
- Direct experience in creating and managing AI knowledge foundations, including practical applications of vector stores and knowledge graphs to enhance AI applications like chatbots.
- Proven ability to technically lead a team of data scientists, providing mentorship, guiding technical direction, and ensuring the development of production-ready, well-documented code.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and Machine Learning Engineers (MLEs), to translate business needs into data science solutions that deliver significant business value and improve customer experience.

Responsibilities
- Utilize expertise when designing and developing algorithms and models to use against large datasets to create business insights
- Make appropriate selection, utilization and interpretation of advanced analytics methodologies
- Lead and manage large and complex projects and teams
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for one or more data science methods, both predictive and prescriptive
- Partner with IT to understand potential for new tools and ways to maintain technical agility for data science
- Develop mastery in one or more prescriptive modeling techniques, like optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP
- Ownership of library of reusable algorithms for future use, ensure developed code/models are documented

- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

- Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical leaders and business customers/partners
