Blizzard is looking for a Lead Gameplay Engineer to manage and grow a team of gameplay engineers who will create AAA missions for a new, unannounced game. The role involves organizing and supporting the development of code frameworks, functional components, workflows, and content tools, as well as collaborating to drive improvements in the underlying engine technology.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in gameplay engineering or a combination of applicable training and experience.
  • Previous leadership experience including at least one shipped game title.
  • Experience delivering AAA-quality features and experiences as part of a cross-functional team including designers, artists, animators, level designers, FX artists, etc.
  • Experience working on real-time 3D games and their supporting editor and tool infrastructure.
  • The ability to understand and write production-grade C++ code.
  • The capacity to make and help others to make frequent, readable, well-tested code commits.
  • Experience analyzing game features for performance and optimizing a game to release quality.

  • Define, communicate, and champion the game team’s vision for technology that allows delivery of multiple premiere missions in a scalable manner.
  • Improve the efficiency and capability of our designer, engineer, and cinematic workflows that directly relate to gameplay and systems.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers on gameplay teams to learn and understand their needs and offer technical solutions.
  • Optimize team productivity by supporting mission-creation pipelines, tool development, and workflow improvements.
  • The ability to understand and write production-grade C++ code.
  • The capacity to make and help others to make frequent, readable, well-tested code commits.
