HII Mission Technologies Global Security group is seeking a Software Engineer 5 to join their Internal Research and Development team to create high-quality software for transition to direct customers.
Requirements
- Proficient in developing software in at least one modern programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++.
- Direct experience with web application development tools, including Docker, Spring Security, and Java Messaging Services (JMS) or ActiveMQ for service communication.
- 10 years of experience developing DoD distributed constructive simulations (e.g., JSAF, NGTS) and interoperability translation services (e.g., JBUS, LVCDT) (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
- Provides team leadership in compliance with software development standards including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Participates in the full development lifecycle and actively troubleshoots issues in support of applications in production critical environments.

- 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
- Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
- 0 - 10% travel required.
