National Grid is hiring a Lead Transmission Project Developer to lead the development and advocacy of transmission infrastructure investments that support New York State’s clean energy and climate goals.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in transmission planning, energy policy, or regulatory affairs required
- Clean energy integration, interconnection policy, and advanced grid technologies experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct electric system studies to identify transmission needs driven by clean energy integration, electrification, and reliability requirements
- Collaborate with internal planning, regulatory, and legal teams to develop filings, testimony, and stakeholder engagement strategies
- Represent National Grid in regulatory and policy forums (e.g., NYPSC, NYISO, DPS) to advocate for transmission projects and policy reforms
- Develop business cases and investment papers, including cost-benefit analyses and risk assessments, to support capital investment decisions
- Monitor and interpret state and federal transmission policy developments, including FERC orders and NYISO initiatives
- Engage with external stakeholders such as state agencies, NGOs, and peer utilities to build coalitions and shape policy outcomes
- Support the integration of grid-enhancing technologies (e.g., storage, advanced conductors) into planning and policy frameworks
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics or Government policy required, Masters preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
