The James C. Morriss Division of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) needs to grow its Computer Engineering program by hiring a Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses, develop curriculum, and support student success.
Requirements
- Master's degree in computer or electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to cover courses and labs in the following areas: Embedded Systems (Microcontroller programming and digital systems design)
- A minimum of two years of effective teaching experience
- A Ph.D. in computer or electrical engineering
- Ability to teach across the curriculum in one or more sub-disciplines, including computer networks, machine learning, programming for engineers, electronics, embedded systems, semiconductor design, computer architecture, and other related fields.
- Previous experience delivering courses in multiple modalities-including online, face-to-face, and hybrid-using learning management systems such as Canvas.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, as well as any foundational engineering courses related to the candidate's expertise, as needed by the Engineering Division
- Design and establish instructional labs that expand the existing curriculum, working with industry and community partners to prepare students for the workforce.
- Ability to cover courses and labs in the following areas: Embedded Systems (Microcontroller programming and digital systems design)
- Ability to teach across the curriculum in one or more sub-disciplines, including computer networks, machine learning, programming for engineers, electronics, embedded systems, semiconductor design, computer architecture, and other related fields.
- Previous experience delivering courses in multiple modalities-including online, face-to-face, and hybrid-using learning management systems such as Canvas.
Other
- A Master's degree in Computer, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field is required; a Ph.D. is preferred.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary academic programs.
- Act as an agent for student recruiting and retention
- Perform any assigned duties related to assessment and ABET accreditation, as well as college-level service
- Participate in activities serving the Engineering Division, college, university, and community.
- Advise students on academic and career matters.
- Participate in outreach activities to promote the computer engineering program and engage with the community.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
