Leidos is seeking an experienced Linux system administrator to manage and maintain Linux-based servers and systems for their Maritime Solution Systems Portfolio, which involves complex maritime applications and underwater data acquisition systems.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN, etc.).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.).
  • Expertise in shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with version control tools like Git.
  • Understanding of system security best practices and tools.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-2).
  • CompTIA Linux+.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers and systems (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
  • Manage system performance, monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure system security by configuring firewalls, SSL, VPNs, and applying patches and updates.
  • Collaborate with the engineering teams to configure environments and troubleshoot system-related issues.
  • Monitor and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine system upgrades, patching, and security compliance checks.
  • Administer and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM).

Other

  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance. Currently hold Secret clearance.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete technical projects independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
