Pinterest is seeking to ensure that its AI systems are fair, ethical, and aligned with societal values, by identifying, avoiding, and mitigating bias across a wide range of ML applications, including generative AI.
Requirements
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- Extensive experience applying advanced ML methods to production systems with a focus on fairness, ethics, and societal considerations
- Deep familiarity with cutting-edge ML architectures such as transformer-based models, large language models (LLMs), and 2-tower architectures
- Proven ability to measure, deploy, and refine fairness interventions and broader responsible AI solutions at scale
- Strong understanding of system architecture, data pipelines, and model deployment workflows for high-traffic platforms
- Experience in shaping and executing large-scale technical roadmaps with clear OKRs
- Excellent mentorship skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Responsibilities
- Lead projects to identify, mitigate, and avoid bias in ML applications, including generative AI, at Pinterest
- Collaborate with engineering teams such as trust and safety, user modeling, and content understanding to integrate responsible AI practices
- Develop and deploy fairness and bias mitigation tools and interventions at scale
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in responsible AI across the organization
- Work with senior leadership to define and drive the technical strategy for responsible AI initiatives
- Evaluate and refine AI models to ensure ethical standards and societal considerations are met
- Publish research findings and contribute to the broader AI community through conferences and publications

- 5+ years of experience working in engineering teams that develop large-scale ML-driven user-facing products
- 2+ years of experience leading cross-team engineering efforts
