Pinterest is seeking a Tech Lead Engineer to guide their Responsible AI initiatives, focusing on mitigating bias and promoting fairness in machine learning applications to ensure AI features are safe, equitable, and aligned with their mission of inspiring positivity and inclusivity.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in advanced ML architectures such as transformers, large language models (LLMs), and recommendation systems
- Proven track record of deploying and refining fairness interventions and responsible AI solutions at scale
- Experience in measuring and mitigating bias in machine learning models
Responsibilities
- Lead projects focused on identifying, avoiding, and mitigating bias in ML applications, including generative AI
- Develop and implement advanced ML approaches that enhance fairness and reduce bias in products
- Translate research into impactful, scalable products that align with ethical standards
- Continuously evaluate and improve fairness, safety, and bias mitigation strategies
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI/ML and responsible AI practices
- Collaborate with engineering teams across trust and safety, user modeling, and content understanding to promote responsible AI practices
- Work with leadership to define and execute the technical roadmap for responsible AI initiatives
Other
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related fields
- 5+ years of experience in engineering roles developing large-scale ML-driven products
- 2+ years of experience leading cross-team engineering efforts
- Strong understanding of societal considerations, ethics, and responsible technology development
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers within the Responsible AI team and across the organization
