Requirements
- Deep familiarity with cutting-edge ML architectures such as transformer models, large language models, and multi-tower architectures
- Proven track record in deploying fairness, ethics, and responsible AI solutions at scale
- Strong understanding of system architecture, data pipelines, and model deployment workflows
- Experience in measuring, evaluating, and refining fairness interventions and bias mitigation strategies
- At least 2 years of experience leading cross-team engineering initiatives
- 5+ years of experience applying advanced machine learning methods to production systems
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive projects focused on responsible AI, including bias detection, mitigation, and fairness interventions across Pinterest’s ML applications
- Collaborate with engineering teams such as trust and safety, user modeling, and content understanding to integrate responsible AI practices into their platforms
- Develop and implement scalable fairness and bias mitigation techniques for large-scale, real-time systems
- Mentor junior engineers and promote responsible AI principles across the organization
- Define and influence the technical strategy for responsible AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and ethical standards
- Research and publish in applied AI conferences to contribute to the broader responsible AI community
- Champion the development of user-facing features that promote fairness and inclusivity, such as controllable skin tones and body type recognition
Other
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields
- Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers
- 5+ years of experience applying advanced machine learning methods to production systems
- At least 2 years of experience leading cross-team engineering initiatives
