Autopoiesis Sciences is building the foundation for scientific superintelligence, aiming to create AI that can autonomously advance knowledge across every scientific discipline. The immediate goal is to develop an AI co-scientist that applies systematic doubt and verification to enable true scientific autonomy, leading to systems that can operate laboratories, design research programs, and pursue discoveries beyond human imagination.

Requirements

  • Experience with modern ML systems and ability to work with distributed machine learning
  • Strong engineering skills including writing quality ML code and system optimization
  • Experience or strong interest in autonomous agents, multi-step reasoning, and decision-making systems
  • Ability to work on novel training approaches, evaluation methods, and reward structures for complex reasoning
  • Understanding of modern ML research and scientific computing
  • Research experience (thesis, publications, or significant projects preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of distributed training systems that enable autonomous agents to perform scientific reasoning, literature review, hypothesis generation, and experimental design
  • Work on novel algorithms and training methodologies that incentivize rigorous scientific methodology, including systematic doubt, peer review, and reproducible research practices
  • Collaborate with domain scientists and researchers to develop AI systems that can distinguish valid scientific reasoning from speculation
  • Help architect evaluation frameworks that measure scientific reasoning capabilities, discovery potential, and adherence to proper epistemic standards
  • Contribute to state-of-the-art advances in autonomous research systems through innovative approaches to training, architecture, and inference optimization
  • Support research initiatives from conception through implementation, balancing theoretical rigor with practical development
  • Engage with researchers from top universities and contribute to our AI co-scientist development

Other

  • Join our team for a 3-6 month research internship starting Summer 2026
  • Work on AI systems for scientific discovery
  • Contribute to real research projects alongside our team
  • Opportunity to work on everything from novel training approaches to autonomous agent architectures
  • Work directly with leading scientists and AI researchers
