Wayfair is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist to develop and deploy large-scale machine learning models to drive business impact within its Supply Chain and Retail Tech AI org, specifically focusing on Service, Supply Chain, and Fraud AI. The goal is to solve problems related to delivery date prediction, policy abuse detection, personalization, and automating visual diagnostics for product refunds.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and Python ML ecosystem (XGBoost or equivalent, PyTorch)
- Hands-on experience deploying machine learning solutions into production.
- Familiarity with GCP (or AWS, Azure), MLOps (feature store, MLflow etc) and orchestration tools (Kubeflow, Airflow)
- Experience with containerization tools (Docker)
- Familiarity with causal inference, multi-armed bandits, personalisation
- Hands-on experience with LLMs
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy large-scale machine learning models balancing short- and long-term value
- Iteratively develop ML solutions maximizing business ROI
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering partners
- Mentor junior ML Scientists
Other
- A PhD with 3–5 years of experience, or an MSc/BSc in a STEM field (e.g., engineering, computer science, economics) with 6–8 years of industry experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence cross-functional teams and leadership
- Candidates for this position are to be based, or plan to relocate, to Boston, and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements. Our teams are onsite in our Boston office Tuesday-Thursday, and remote Monday and Friday.
