Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience, with a focus on big data and distributed systems
- Expertise with batch data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, EMR, etc.
- Expertise with big data technologies such as Argo, Apache iceberg, AWS glue, Spark, Metaflow, DBT, and Soda
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP)
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g. HIPAA, EDI) is highly desirable
- Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment
- 3+ years experience as an engineering leader with a track record of translating ambiguous business requirements into scalable solutions and new product features
Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and drive new features with a focus on Garner’s strategic mission
- Own and operate Garner’s core systems that generate provider rankings
- Build a high-performance team by mentoring, providing feedback, and hiring
- Continuously strive for quality while maintaining speed of delivery
- Balance between greenfield features and scaling existing systems
- Collaborate across disciplines by identifying bottlenecks and risks, proposing mitigation, and communicating tradeoffs
- Protect our users’ privacy and security through best practices

- Proven ability to influence without authority (e.g. driving process improvements, spearheading architecture enhancements, etc.)
