The Hartford is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to serve as Manager IT for their Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform. This role aims to guide the technical direction of IDP initiatives, mentor engineers, and deliver scalable, production-grade solutions for automated document workflows and advanced data extraction.

Requirements

  • Experience with AWS services experience (e.g., Lambda, S3, Step Functions, ECS, IAM).
  • Experience with .NET and Python, with experience building scalable backend services.
  • Experience with Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), OCR, NLP, and machine learning technologies in production environments.
  • Experience with GenAI-powered Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platforms (e.g., MEA).
  • Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with .NET 8

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering and delivery of cloud-native IDP solutions using AWS and third-party platforms.
  • Oversee the development and optimization of automated workflows for document ingestion, classification, extraction, and validation.
  • Drive performance tuning, cost optimization, and infrastructure resilience across the IDP platform.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and fault-tolerant mechanisms to ensure platform reliability.
  • Own technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to platform roadmap and strategic planning.

Other

  • Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
  • Manage a team of engineers and collaborate with data scientists, architects, and business stakeholders to align IDP capabilities with enterprise goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
