Guardant Health is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team focused on clinical data integrations, EMR connectivity, and partnerships with hospital networks and reference labs. The goal is to build and scale cloud-native integration platforms to ensure seamless interoperability with various clinical systems, driving clinical adoption, operational efficiency, and data reliability.
Requirements
- Deep experience with Java (Spring Boot) and MuleSoft in a production environment.
- Proven success with cloud-native development on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience delivering and maintaining integrations with EMRs (Epic, OncoEMR), hospital systems, or labs.
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
- Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Background in regulated environments including HIPAA, CAP/CLIA, or FDA guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of backend and integration engineers focused on data exchange between Guardant and external clinical systems.
- Oversee delivery of EMR integrations, including Epic, OncoEMR, and other hospital EHR platforms.
- Drive development of scalable services and APIs that enable lab partnerships and external data connectivity.
- Architect and scale MuleSoft-based integration flows and microservices that manage clinical and lab data pipelines.
- Ensure solutions are cloud-native, deployed on AWS/Kubernetes, and align with Guardant’s data security, compliance, and observability standards.
- Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD, test automation, observability, and resiliency.
- Monitor integration KPIs and operational metrics to ensure ongoing reliability and performance of partner-facing systems.
Other
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a people management role, ideally leading backend or integration-focused teams.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage with external technical partners and cross-functional internal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder needs, prioritize work across multiple initiatives, and deliver in a regulated environment.
- Experience in Life Sciences, Diagnostics, or Healthcare IT.
- All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
