Optimum is seeking an accomplished and driven Manager of Video Backend Development to lead and guide a dynamic engineering team responsible for the technology enablement and development of video, mobile, and broadband services.

- 10+ years of experience in backend software development, including at least 4 years in a leadership role
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of backend software for delivery of video, focusing on Java, Spring Boot, SQL, GCP & HLS technologies
- Oversee the integration of backend software with various frontend applications and devices, ensuring seamless operation and performance of video and metadata delivered to these devices
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure a comprehensive testing strategy that minimizes production defects and maintains product quality
- Lead the technical direction for backend software projects, identifying innovative solutions and applying industry best practices
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Java, Spring Boot, SQL, GCP & HLS, and related technologies, guiding team members and driving technical excellence
- Proactively assess new technologies, tools, and methodologies, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of backend video development

- Resourceful, collaborative, team-oriented and passionate about delivering consistent excellence
- Manage team dynamics, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and business teams
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define product requirements and align technical efforts with business priorities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree is preferred
