Trex is looking for an Automation Engineer to drive productivity and performance by identifying, developing, and implementing automation projects within their manufacturing organization.
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Project management experience from concept through commissioning required.
- Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques required.
- 3-5 years emphasis on end of line packaging and automation strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of controls is preferred.
- Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate AI/ML models into PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation workflows.

- Identification of automation project and process opportunities
- Research of concepts
- Vetting of vendors and strategies
- Leading projects through the completion of commissioning
- Ensuring a successful transition through development, documentation, and communication of procedures, maintenance requirements, and troubleshooting techniques
- Coordinate with internal resources and external vendors to develop custom machine designs and incorporate them into existing process and controls scenarios.
- Develop, perform, and document site acceptance testing of externally sourced equipment.

- Lead cross-functional teams
- Develop key deliverable criteria, budgets, and timelines based on project requirements.
- Ensure buy-in from key stakeholders during the development and implementation process.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform complex systems tests.
- Manage prioritization of activities to meet multiple project timeline requirements.
